Find the Perfect Shampoo for Your Hair
For years, I’ve always wondered which shampoo is good for me. I, like many women, have color-treated hair, but I don’t think of that as the defining characteristic. I also have some light curls, and my hair is fine. So, finding the right shampoo is always a challenge.
Pantene, a brand I’ve used before, understands that women have a hard time finding just the right formula, so they offered me a Pantene Scientific Hair Test Kit so I could learn which formula was best for me. After completing all of the “tests” which included measuring the diameter of my ponytail and checking to see if a piece of color-treated hair sank quickly in a glass of water, I determined that I really have fine hair. While I often thought my hair was color damaged, the reality is that it’s quite healthy, and needs more body.
I’ve been using the Pantene Fine Hair Shampoo for about a week now, every other day (on the off days, I’ve been using my beloved Wen) and I like the body that the shampoo gives me. It’s definitely something I’ll add to my shampoo rotation.

Beautiful Turtle Night Light that Helps Turtles
This Recycled Glass Turtle Night Light, available from
Uncommon Goods, is beautiful and also goes to help endangered leatherback turtles.
The design of the night light was inspired by the journey of a baby sea turtle from its nest on the sand to the sea. It’s environmentally friendly, made from recycled glass bottles before they hit the landfill. The artistry is astounding; the piece is kiln formed and sparkles from all angles.
Each light comes with a 3 1/2″ x 5″ reproduction of the original watercolor by artist Elaine Hayes-Gray that inspired it, along with her poem “Follow the Moon”.
For every light sold, the artists will donate a portion of proceeds to the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation to help Leatherback turtles.
Mother’s Day Gift Idea: Fine Gourmet Chocolates from Hotel Chocolat
I’m a chocoholic, and I’m pretty discriminating with chocolate – it has to be high-quality and I prefer dark over milk. The way to my heart is definitely with some great chocolate, so the gift set that Hotel Chocolat sent me for Mother’s Day was definitely gone in just a short amount of time.
The gift set I received – The Pretty in Pink set – included a variety of kinds of chocolates – Milk Chocolate Munchkins, Strawberry Heart lollipop, Peanut Passion chocolates, and two Raspberry Fusion Slabs. All of them were excellent, although the milk chocolate munchkins (chocolate covered cookie pieces) were my favorite. Although I’m not typically a fan of fruit flavor in chocolate, the raspberry fusion slabs, combining chocolate and raspberry tasted delicious. These are such a great gift for the mom in your life, or even just because.

When I get a good photo of my kids, I want to show it off! I take loads of pictures of them, but it’s nearly impossible to get one where they are both smiling, wide-eyed, and looking at the camera. Gourmet Caramel and Chocolate Apples
I’m a sucker for high-quality treats, and so when I got a small Mrs. Prindable’s apple from Kim Moldofsky’s Mom Impact at the Mom 2.0 Summit, it was a stretch for me to actually avoid eating it until returning home so that I could share it with my family. Although it was the smaller size, it was still large enough for the four of us to share.
Then, several weeks ago, I received another Mrs. Prindable’s – this time, the larger size. Now, I’m completely hooked. The delicious chocolate combined with caramel, on top of the crunchy apple, is SO good. We slice the apple into about eight pieces, and were able to eat it as a small dessert for two separate nights. I was initially concerned that the shipping process would take away from the freshness of the apple, but it really didn’t. It arrived in perfect shape!
