Share the Table with Barilla

As I mentioned in a prior post, Barilla hosted a fabulous dinner for a small group of bloggers who remained at the Mom 2.0 Summit on Saturday evening.  The dinner included some discussion of their new campaign – Share the Table – which encourages families to enjoy dinner together.

Barilla also hosted lunch for the entire conference earlier in the day, and it was easily the best conference lunch I’ve ever had.  It was amazing – fresh salad, prosciutto, cheese, tortellini, pasta, and a fabulous dessert.

The tortellini was so delicious that I went back for seconds, even though I was sick and am on a diet.  It was outstanding.  So I was thrilled when I received a thank you pack from Barilla last week that included a bag of that very tortellini (yes, it comes in a bag.  Yes, I married in to an Italian family.  I’m telling you – it’s that good).

Here’s a link to the product page on their Web site – you should be able to purchase it at your local grocery store.

Lifelock and Norton 360 Bundle from the Celebrity Apprentice

On last night’s Celebrity Apprentice, the women’s team, project managed by Olympic gold medal swimmer Summer Sanders, won the evening. As the victor, her charity, Right to Play (http://www.righttoplay.com/) got a $20,000 donation, as well as up to an additional donation from people who purchase the LifeLock and Norton 360 bundle at the promotional price of $79.99 ($10 of the purchase price will be donated, up to 2500 orders for a maximum of up to an additional $25,000). Right to Play is a great charity which uses sports to help children in developing nations.

They flashed the instructions on the screen very quickly, but to take advantage of this offer, just go to Lifelock.com and use promo code SUMMER.

Yesterday was also the day Darryl Strawberry walked away from the Celebrity Apprentice. His charity was the Darryl Strawberry Foundation which helps kids with autism. While he raised no money for them on the show, it’s still very much a worthy cause. A donation can be made at http://www.darrylstrawberry.com/ds/.

Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem II Stroller for Twins Review

kolcraft contours Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem II Stroller for Twins ReviewThis is a guest review by Amy M.
We had twins in April 2009 – Alison and Caleb – and we loved our Baby Trend Snap N Go – but the twins have grown out of their infant car seats and we needed a new stroller (just like we needed new car seats!). We found a perfect option – the Kolcraft Contours Double Stroller for Twins – that meets and exceeds our expectations.
It “corners like it’s on rails” – it’s very light and also very sturdy at the same time. Best feature: the twins can face forwards, backwards, or (my favorite option) looking at each other. On the walks this week, they’ve been so soothed by the motion that they’ve both fallen asleep for a good hour – nice break for Mommy, sitting on a park bench in the early spring sun.

You have to remove the seats to fold it up, but it’s very easy to unclick them and then click them back in when you’re ready to go for another stroll. Other features include a dual cup holder with a small basket for holding keys or an ipod. In addition, if you have more than your twins, your older children can hold on to special straps on the handle bars – up to 2 additional children. There also is a very large storage basket for light food shopping or carrying an extra blanket.

I highly recommend it.  You can purchase the Kolcraft Contours Double Stroller for Twins at Amazon.com. Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem II Stroller for Twins Review.

Disclosure: Amy purchased this stroller for her use, but the link is an affiliate link.

Great Lodges of the National Parks Book

Great Lodges of the National Parks is the companion book to the PBS Television Series of the same name (which aired in 2002).

Filled with the same great photography of the TV series, it provides an in-depth look at some of the nicest lodges in our National Parks, from Old Faithful Inn to Crater Lake Lodge. You’ll see images of the interior and exterior of the lodges themselves, as well as wildlife and vistas.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book go toward the rehabilitation of these magnificent buildings.

Mail Order To Die For Cookies

victorycookies Mail Order To Die For CookiesYou all know how sad my attempts at baking are.  I’m truly pathetic.  But I do love cookies – chocolate chip cookies especially.  I recently received a care package from Victory Cookies with chocolate chip and sugah brown cookies.  And, believe me when I say they are absolutely delicious.

Victory Cookies are lovingly made in Georgia with all-natural ingredients.  You can actually taste the freshness of the ingredients – and it’s nearly impossible to eat only one (or two :) ).  Victory Cookies would be a great gift to send to a special someone, as a thank you gift, a thinking of you gift, or a birthday gift.

Anti-Bacterial Gloves for Germy Places

getglovd Anti Bacterial Gloves for Germy PlacesWhen I used to work full time, I took public transportation to my job in Boston.  While I didn’t like touching the bars and handles in the buses and subway cars, I used to feel better on those cold days when I wore my gloves and didn’t have to touch the handles with my bare hands… until a friend mentioned that it was probably less sanitary since I wasn’t washing my gloves nearly as much as I washed my hands.  Right…

So, when I received a pair of anti-bacterial, anti-microbial bamboo yarn gloves from Get Glovd, I thought they’d be perfect for that situation.  They are lightweight and soft, but provide protection again UV rays as well as bacteria.  Available in men, woman, or child sizes, they look just like standard gloves and have enough stretch to make them fit well.

Get Glovd products are also great for handling money – at sports concession stands and Girl Scout cookie sales for example.  The child size is great for everyday – given the amount of germs kids carry, anything can help!

Wet Bags by Monkey Foot Designs

wine paradise garden large 300x275 Wet Bags by Monkey Foot DesignsI love products that can be used for multiple childhood stages because they represent good value for the money.  However, it’s pretty rare to find a product that can be used with babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and older children.  Wet Bags by Monkey Foot Designs are one of the few I’m aware of.

The Wet Bags from Monkey Foot Designs are perfect for wet clothes – from a leaking diaper, a potty training accident, or swimsuits.  They are lined with ProCare, which is non-toxic, non-allergenic, anti-microbial, waterproof, and machine washable/dryable.  Carry one with you at all times to ensure you don’t get your diaper bag or worse, handbag, soiled or soaked with dirty clothes.  The attached strap makes it easy to loop right over your stroller.

Not only are they functional – they are completely fashionable also!  Monkey Foot Designs offers in stock patterns for immediate shipping (my favorite is the Wine Paradise Garden pattern) and made to order patterns which take ten days (my favorite of these is the Jungle Jam pattern).

To purchase, visit Monkey Foot Designs online.

Disclosure: I received a Monkey Foot Designs Wet Bag at no cost for purposes of my review.
