Football Fun for the Whole Family
My husband loves football, but personally, I find it to be a difficult game to learn. So, when he’s played football video games in the past (like Madden), I haven’t been able to play along, because I had a hard time figuring out how to play.
Family Fun Football is a new game for the Wii that, in my opinion, makes playing easier for all football knowledge levels. It doesn’t, however, “dumb-down” the game at all – even my husband finds it fun to play. My 5-year old daughter has also been having fun with it, and after a few trial games, now really understands how to play.
Like most Wii games, Family Fun Football has great graphics. It uses both the nunchuk and the standard remote control, and is lots of fun!

Salon Style Hair Care from Mario Russo
As a Boston-area resident, I’ve heard lots of great things about Salon Mario Russo, but never had the opportunity to have my hair styled there. For those who don’t get to visit the salon, Mario Russo is now selling a collection of salon quality hair products. I had the chance to try out some of the products – the Hydrating Conditioner and the Miracle Styling Cream. Both are great for taming frizzy hair, and hydrating dry hair.
The conditioner is a thicker formula than I use on an everyday basis. I use it a few times a week, and it does a great job of making my hair sleek and manageable. The styling cream is also thick, and just a little bit goes a long way. I use it on days when I straighten my hair, because it definitely works well for styling hair.
Mario Russo also offers special formulas for thin and color treated hair – to learn more or purchase, visit Mario Russo online.

The Future – Make’s You Think…
I took this photo in 1996 in Khotang District, Nepal. I was back there 2 years after finishing my Peace Corps service to visit friends and see if any of the water supply projects I helped design and build were still functioning.
This is my favorite photo of all time. The photo truly represents the lives [...]
Pink Playing Cards by Bicycle

These are official Bicycle Playing Cards
in every way, except they’re colored pink and the reverse of each card has a pink ribbon to support breast cancer awareness.
It’s a great way to support breast cancer research (a portion of proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation), as well as bring some awareness to your poker night.
Teach Your Kids How to Print Their Name
My daughter absolutely loves scribbling, drawing, and practicing letters. I save every single pieces of scrap paper in the house for her, and she goes through it incredibly fast! While she is getting good at spelling her own name, there are a few letters that she was doing backwards, and despite my trying to show her how to write it, she was having a hard time getting it.
The Little Stamp Company sent us a Learn to Print Signature Stamp for my daughter. This self-inking stamp spells out her name in a large “dotted” font, which helps her trace her name. Not only did it help her print her own name, she just loves using it on just about everything. In fact, my 3-year old son took it for himself, so I’m going to order him one with his own name.
The Learn to Print Signature Stamp is a great holiday gift – perfect as a stocking stuffer or as part of an art set. To purchase, visit The Little Stamp Company online.

Snap! Now What?
Like most moms and dads out there, I have tons of pictures of my children. They sit quietly on my hard drive until the screen saver pops up with a lovely slideshow, the grandparents ask for more picture emails, or we remember to back up the computer. Doing ’something’ with my photos usually becomes an all-day process. Trying to wrangle the various picture editing software options out there can take way more time than I have. Add in the videos we’ve taken with our video camera and you have a part-time job (if not full-time ahead) in the editing and burning process.
Now I love the pictures of our boys and I love the pictures of our life before we became parents. I want to do something with them. It would be a shame to let them sit. Thankfully Corel has created a software suite perfect for all of the beginners that lack the time to truly learn the process of using more complicated and elaborate programs. Corel Digital Studio 2010 has a great, simple interface. It’s perfect for moms and dads (and grandma and grandpa). Sleek and intuitive, the software allows you to edit your photos and videos with little struggle. If you want to add more organization to your albums, you can tag and view your photos and videos all in the same place.
As holiday time looms, we all have gifts on the brain. Corel Digital Studio 2010 makes it easy to create calendars and photo books for the grandparents. It also makes it easy for you to share your photos online on Facebook, Flickr, and Youtube or through email. Corel Digital Studio 2010 includes Corel PaintShop Photo Express 2010, Corel VideoStudio Express 2010, Corel DVD Factory 2010, and Corel WinDVD 2010.
Ready to get started on organizing and editing your photos and videos or have someone in mind for a great software holiday gift, you can find Corel Digital Studio 2010 online at Amazon.com.

Kitchenaid Pink Tea Kettle

In past years we’ve highlighted some of KitchenAid’s best products in their Cook for the Cure collection, including their innovative Pass the Plate promotion and of course, the always popular Pink KitchenAid Mixer.
This year’s new entrant is a very stylish and functional tea kettle. The Cook for the Cure® Tea Kettle in Pink is new for this year and is one of the most beautiful tea kettle designs I’ve seen.
The kettle holds two quarts of water, has a stylish and easy-to-grip silicone handle which protects your hands against the heat, and is dishwasher safe.
$5 from every kettle will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Becoming a Mindful Woman
As you may know, I have read a few books about being mindful. (You can find some other posts here and here). I am intrigued by this way of living. Anything that helps me to find peace, calm my ‘overthinking,’ and slow some of my counterproductive, automatic thoughts and reactions, is great! Keeping mindfulness as a priority in my life has seen me through the stresses of being a mother, wife, and woman, in the past few months. For me and, I believe, most people, being mindful is something that you can’t achieve so much as continually strive for. Reading about mindfulness and learning new exercises has been a great motivator for me and has kept being mindful in the front of my brain.
The Mindful Woman is another great book that helps bring mindfulness to moms and the other ladies in our lives. Unlike the other books I’ve read, the author focuses on woman and the natural feminine skills that may help us to live a mindful life. As natural multitaskers, we may even benefit more from mindfulness. Thoele offers readers some information on what mindfulness is and the benefits of taking time to learn the practice. The bulk of the book offers a variety of exercises to help stretch our mindful "muscles." From brief exercises that take only moments to do, to others that require a bit more practice, all of the mindful activities are perfect for moms. Whether you only have time for mindful breathing before getting out of bed in the morning or you have more time to dedicate The Mindful Woman has something for every woman learning to be mindful or for others who want to continue their mindful journey.
While reading the activities, I found myself flagging each one that I felt pertained to my own search for mindfulness. After finishing the book, I had a bunch of flagged pages and a number of activities to try out. When I begin feeling stressed, lose my feeling of gratitude, or start the blaming game in my head, I stop and try one of the exercises. I know that I’ll be returning often to The Mindful Woman as I continue to strive for a more mindful life. I’ll also keep it in my mind for the women in my life and the upcoming holidays.
If you, or the women in your life, could do with a little mindfulness in your life, you can find The Mindful Woman at Amazon.com.
